Den Leaders Responsibilities
The Den Leader’s Responsibilities to the Pack
1) Attendance at Committee Meetings
Some den leaders skip this and only read the minutes. It seems to work okay, but you are more informed if you or someone else from your den regularly attends our meetings and you can contribute more to the way the pack is run if you are willing to give your time in this way.
2) Communication to Den families about Pack events
As Den Leader, you are responsible for communicating to your den families about Pack Events. You can create your own den website on our Pack website to post information or you can do it by email.
3) Pack Meetings
As Den Leader, you are responsible for ensuring that your den behaves itself during pack meetings! This means you or another parent should sit with your boys and keep an eye on them.
4) Organising Pack Events
We take it in turns to coordinate the organization of pack events such as the pinewood derby, the winter weekend etc. One year becomes responsible for organizing this, and can split the tasks involved amongst the other dens in the pack. The rota is set at the beginning of the year: tiger dens only have to do something at the end of the year.
5) Learn the Art of Delegation
There is a lot of work to be done in running a den, and in managing the pack. Don’t keep it all for yourself…get your den families involved!
