2007 Blue & Gold Photos

We are delighted to inform parents that photographs of the Blue and Gold are now available.  We have close-up photographs of many of the children, capturing fully this occasion.  The photographs can be viewed or downloaded by visiting the following internet site:  http://CraigL.smugmug.com/Scouts

In order to comply with scouting regulations the site is password protected , All den leaders are being sent details of the password so please contact them to get access. Should you have any problems please feel free to contact the webmaster as well.

The site is easy to use and self explanatory, with a good help facility. You will enjoy gathering your children around the computer and then viewing the images using the “slide-show” button found in the upper-right corner.  You do not need to enter your e-mail address or any personal information in order to view or download the original high-resolution photographs, and you will receive no “spam” or advertising by visiting this site.  The images can be downloaded as either high-resolution originals “O” or smaller files “S” that are suitable for sharing by e-mail.   If you like, you can order prints (prices start at US $0.19 each plus $3.90 shipping per order; delivery takes 1-2 weeks).

If you have any questions or comments, please send an email to Craig Lissner at craig@bluewin.ch . He would welcome your feedback, and is particularly interested in your experience in ordering prints.

I hope that you enjoy these images.

Meeting details for the Escalade Race

Plan for Saturday 2 December 2006, Escala de Marmite Race

Meeting time: 17:45 on the steps of the Grand Theatre, which is on the opposite side of the Place de Neuve to the Parc des Bastions.

Race starts at 18:30: I will have the dossards and chips for every participant, and will give them to each den leader to give out to the boys and parents.  I will also have the T-shirts for each participant.  If you have chosen to register yourselves separately, you will have to pick up your dossards and chips yourselves.

Race details: If you want to know more about the Marmite, or other races during the day, have a look on www.escalade.ch

Getting there: Parking close to the race can be extremely difficult and it is a good idea to give yourselves plenty of time to park and get to the meeting point. You can park and ride from further out, or take a train or a tram.

If the weather is terrible: The race will still go ahead and lots of us will still run or walk through the rain!  If you choose not to participate on the day, please can you let me know on my mobile 078 766 1499 so that we don’t wait for you.

Publicity: We are hoping to get some coverage on WRG the day before the race.We will take a picture on the steps of the Grand Theatre before the race for our own web site and possibly for the WRG website too. Any other questions, let me know, 0033 4501 42 48 75.

Escalade

During the race
Be VERY careful at the start.  It is very busy so watch your feet and those of the runner in front. Keep a steady pace, and don’t run too fast at the beginning. If you get out of breath, walk at a steady pace until you have recovered, then run again.  If you have a stitch, press gently on the area until it has gone away and concentrate on blowing OUT harder. Be careful on the slippery cobblestones of the Old Town.

After the race
Kids need to stay with the adult that they ran with.  Adults need to be aware that it is very busy and keep an eye out for the children – the white T-shirts will make them easy to spot! Put on another layer of clothes to keep warm. Once you are over the finish line, slow down to a walk.
Stretch your legs gently afterwads drink some water and eat some cake or fruit.

Have fun!
