Camp Sites

Val Ferret

camping in the Val Ferret at the “Camping des Glaciers”. The campsite is ~ 160 km from Geneva, and is situated at 1,600 meters in a truly stunning location.

Campsite location

The campsite is open plan, allowing a choice of pitching your tent in the shade or in the field (depending on the weather.)  We will have a place for a campfire.  There is an easy and  beautiful hiking trail starting right from the campground, and there is a children’s play area and climbing wall as well.  The camp has full facilities on site for showers, cleaning dishes, etc.

Directions:

Take the highway from Geneva past Montreux to Martigny. Take the second Martigny exit (the highway), following signs to Verbier and the Tunnel de Gd St.-Bernard.   At Sembrancher, follow the signs to Orsieres and the Tunnel de Gd St.-Bernard.  Just at Orsieres, (easy to miss) follow the signs to Val Ferret and La Foulay.  Follow the valley up through a series of typical
Swiss mountain villages.  When you reach La Foulay, keep a lookout on the right hand side for a sign with a “camping” symbol (Δ).    Drive all the way into the campground and head to the reception/registration.

After you pay, Mme Darbellay (speaks English, French and German) will point you in our direction.  (NOTE:  The office is closed in the middle of the day, so if there is no one there, set up
and pay when the office opens again.)

Kandersteg Scout Campsite

The Kandersteg Scout Centre has a campsite and several thousand m2 of land. In summer there are many activities that can be done here as well and there will be lots of
other Scouts to make friends with. Why not organise or suggest to your den leader that you spend a weekend camping here. (If you do come, bring a hammer and expect to bend some tent pegs as the ground the campsite was built on was created from the rocks extracted from the Lotschberg railway tunnel, and as a result isn’t particularily giving. (also don’t pitch your tent in a depression, if it rains you’ll find yourself sleeping in a pond.

Click here to view the the Kanderteg Scout web site which will give you an idea of what Kanderteg has to offer.

Click here to get the directions to the actual scout centre once you reach Kandersteg.

DIRECTIONS

The site is approximately 25-30 minutes (26.5km) drive from the Bardonet Douanes.

From Geneva take the N201 to Annecy and immediately after  crossing the “Pont de la Caille” (the big bridge spanning the gorge), take the first right (approx
50m).

It’s well signposted but just in-case continue along the road for 2.0km until you arrive at a crossroads and go straight across.

After 1.4km you’ll arrive at a roundabout and go straight across (around it).

After 1.7km take a right and after 0.4km come to another crossroads and go straight across.

After another 0.4km turn right into the campsite.  Alternatively if you go on the website you’ll get their GPS location.

SWIMMING POOL
There is a small unheated swimming pool there (unfenced but away from the tents).  If you want to bring swimming stuff it’s your call. ,
